Common questions
- What do I need to run it?
- Ledger needs (empty). It runs on macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS.
- How does syncing actually work?
- Ledger uses your private iCloud database to keep information current across your devices. There is no separate Ledger account and no Avenue Apps server in the middle. Sign your devices into the same Apple Account, enable iCloud for Ledger, and changes can follow you from one device to the next.
- How do I turn sync off and keep everything on one Mac?
- Turn off iCloud sync for Ledger in the app's settings or in System Settings under your Apple Account. Ledger will keep its database locally on that Mac and nothing will be uploaded. Local use is fully supported, and you can turn sync back on later without losing what you entered.
- My devices are showing different numbers.
- Usually one device has not finished syncing yet. Make sure both devices use the same Apple Account, iCloud is enabled for Ledger, and each device has been online recently. Ledger should catch up automatically once a connection is available.
- Where do my invoices actually live?
- Your Ledger data stays on your devices and, when sync is enabled, in your private iCloud database. Avenue Apps never receives your invoices or business records. You can also export invoices and quotes as PDFs whenever you want a copy outside Ledger.
- What do you collect about me?
- Nothing is collected by Avenue Apps. Ledger has no Avenue Apps account and no analytics that send your personal data back to us. Information the app saves stays on your devices or, where applicable, in your own iCloud. The privacy policy explains the details.
- Can you add something?
- Please do. Feature requests are welcome, especially when they make the app more useful without adding unnecessary complexity.
Reporting a bug
A screenshot can make a problem much easier to identify. If Ledgercrashes, leaving crash reporting enabled in your device's privacy settings can also provide useful technical details through Apple and help narrow down the cause.
