Need to know if a screw is the right length, whether a rug will fit the hallway, or if that picture is hanging straight? Measure brings a precise ruler, a responsive bubble level and a handy camera tape measure together in one simple app. Open it, measure, and get on with your day.

A ruler you can trust

The on-screen ruler shows inches and centimetres side by side, with proper fractions right down to a sixteenth of an inch. It’s sized using Apple’s published screen specifications, so on supported iPhone and iPad models it’s accurate straight away. Using a screen we don’t know yet, or just like to fine-tune? Calibrate it in seconds with a standard-sized card, like a bank card, using the Calibrate button on the Ruler screen or Settings, under Ruler.

A level that tells you when it’s right

Lay your phone flat to level a table or shelf, with a bubble for both directions at once, or stand it on its edge and line up the horizon to straighten a frame. In flat mode the screen turns blue when one direction is level, and in either mode it turns green when everything is. You’ll feel it, too: a light tap when one direction gets there in flat mode, and a success tap the moment you’re fully level. Tap anywhere on the screen, or use the Lock button, to hold the reading, and use Match Angle to copy an existing angle and line everything else up to it. Phone in a case, or the camera bump getting in the way? Improve Accuracy in Settings cancels that out, no level surface needed.

Measure bigger things with your camera

For anything longer than your screen, aim the camera at one end and tap Add Point, then aim at the other end and tap again. You’ll get the distance in inches, with fractions, and in centimetres. Every measurement is saved and you can give each one a name, so it’s easy to find that doorway or sofa measurement later. You get three camera measurements free in total, counted on your device so reinstalling the app doesn’t reset them, and Pro makes them unlimited.

Simple and private

Everything stays on your device. There’s no account to create, no subscription, no cloud sync, no ads and no tracking. The only time Measure goes online is when you buy or restore Pro through the App Store, or, if you turn on Save Location, to show a small map and place name from Apple Maps beside a saved measurement.
