Send a message with a question, bug report or idea. For a problem, tell us which device and iOS version you're using and what happened, and the steps that lead to it if you can repeat it. A screenshot helps too.
Every message is read, and replies generally arrive within two working days. If you haven't heard back after a few days, feel free to send it again.
Restore Purchases
If you've bought Pro and it isn't showing, for example after reinstalling the app or getting a new device, you don't need to pay again.
- Make sure you're signed into the same Apple Account you used to buy it, and that you're online.
- On a phone, open Saved and tap the gear icon to open Settings, and you'll find Restore Purchases in the About section. On iPad, choose Settings in the sidebar. Restore Purchases is also on the Upgrade to Pro screen.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, so we can't see them or restore them from our end. If it doesn't work, write to us and we'll help you sort it out.
How to calibrate the ruler
- On the Ruler screen, tap the Calibrate button just above the tab bar. You can also find it in Settings, under Ruler, as Calibrate Ruler….
- Step 1 of 2: place a card. Lay a standard-size card face down on the screen, standing tall, with its top edge against the orange line, then tap Next. On smaller iPhones, tap Next first, then lay the card down.
- Step 2 of 2: match the bottom edge. Drag the second orange line until it sits exactly at the bottom of the card, using the minus and plus buttons to fine-tune.
- Lift the card and tap Done. If you change your mind part-way through, Back takes you to the previous step and Cancel leaves without changing anything.
- To undo a calibration later, open the calibration screen again and tap Reset Calibration at the top right.
How to improve the level's accuracy
- This is optional. Improve Accuracy cancels out a camera bump, a case or a small sensor offset, and you don't need a level surface to do it. Open Settings, then Level, then Improve Accuracy….
- Lay your phone face up on any surface and tap to record.
- Turn the phone 180° in place, keeping it on the same spot, and record again.
- If you'd like to start over, Reset is on the same screen.
Tips
- Line objects up with the zero line on screen, not the edge of the phone's case or frame.
- Calibrate with a standard bank-card-size card. A driver's licence or gift card works too.
Common questions
- Why is the ruler asking me to calibrate?
Your device isn't one of the screens we already know, so the app asks you to tap Calibrate This Screen. Calibrate once with any standard-size card.
- Do I need to calibrate on a known iPhone or iPad?
No. Calibration is optional fine-tuning.
- Does the app need the internet?
Not for everyday use. It needs the internet only to buy or restore Pro, and, if you've turned on Save Location, to load the small map and place name for a saved measurement from Apple Maps.
- What's free, and what does Pro add?
The ruler and the level are free forever. Measure, the camera tape measure, includes three free measurements in total. We count them on your device, so reinstalling the app doesn't reset them.
Measure Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription. It adds unlimited measuring, plus sharing and exporting your saved measurements. The price varies by country, so you'll see yours in the App Store.
- Is my card scanned during calibration?
No. Nothing is scanned or saved. The card just lies face down on the screen.
- Where do I measure from?
From the orange zero line at the top of the screen, not the edge of the phone.
