Support
Boxset is a free Mac app that gets your own movies and TV shows ready for the TV app and Apple TV. If anything isn't working the way you'd expect, we'd love to help.
Contact us
Send a message with a question, bug report or idea. For a problem, tell us which device and macOS version you're using and what happened, and the steps that lead to it if you can repeat it. A screenshot helps too.
Every message is read, and replies generally arrive within two working days. If you haven't heard back after a few days, feel free to send it again.
If a match is wrong
- When Boxset marks a file "Check this", open the picker to see every match it found.
- Switch between Apple TV, TMDB and iTunes Store at the top if you'd like to compare.
- Can't find it anywhere? Choose "Not listed? Tag it by hand…" and fill in the details yourself.
Tips
- Keep a backup of anything you can't replace before running a long queue. Boxset is careful, but backups are always a good idea!
Common questions
- What do I need?
A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 15 or later. Smart matching of messy file names uses Apple Intelligence, which needs macOS 26 or later. Without it, Boxset still works beautifully and simply asks you to confirm each match yourself.
- Will it change my files?
Only when it's safe to. MP4 and M4V files are updated after Boxset has checked the result in full, and their original details are saved first. Files in any other format, like MKV, become a new file and the original is left exactly as it was. Your picture quality never changes, because Boxset never re-encodes video.
- Does it work with copy-protected files?
No. Boxset doesn't work with copy-protected files and doesn't get around copy protection of any kind. Please only use it with videos you own or have the right to copy.
- What do you collect about me?
Nothing at all. Boxset has no account and no analytics. The privacy policy explains the details.
